Wigan 3-0 Sunderland
Wigan moved top of the Premier League after consigning Roy Keane's Sunderland to their first defeat of the season.
Emile Heskey hooked a cross home with his right foot before Danny Landzaat doubled their lead with a penalty after Danny Collins fouled Antoine Sibierski.
Russell Anderson brought down Heskey for Sibierski to score Wigan's second penalty in the space of seven minutes.
Michael Chopra and Daryl Murphy were both denied by Chris Kirkland saves but the Latics undoubtedly deserved to win.
Tottenham 4-0 Derby
Darren Bent got his first league goal for Spurs as they strolled to victory over Derby to ease the pressure on manager Martin Jol at White Hart Lane.
The Dutchman's position has come under intense scrutiny of late following two defeats, but Steed Malbranque eased any nerves with the opener from 20 yards.
He then curled home the second before Jermaine Jenas slipped in the third.
Gary Teale's 70th-minute shot was the visitors' only effort on goal and Bent wrapped up an easy win from a yard.
Reading 1-0 Everton
Everton were knocked off the top of the Premier League table on goal difference as they lost for the first time this season to hard-working Reading.
Stephen Hunt fired the first-half winner when he lashed the ball past Tim Howard just before the interval.
Everton looked more dangerous after the break with Andrew Johnson going close.
But the Royals' extra work-rate paid dividends as they survived a late surge by the visitors to seal their first victory of the season.
Portsmouth 3-1 Bolton
Portsmouth came from behind to defeat Bolton and increase the pressure on boss Sammy Lee, whose team have yet to pick up a point after three games.
Nicolas Anelka shot through David James's legs to put Bolton in front but Kanu hooked the ball into the goal from six yards to equalise.
John Utaka then burst forward from 45 yards before slipping the ball home.
And Matthew Taylor scored a late penalty after Gerald Cid was penalised for a trip on Kanu.
Newcastle 0-0 Aston Villa
Aston Villa frustrated Newcastle in Sam Allardyce's first home game in charge to open their account for the season.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill set Newcastle a defensive problem they were never able to solve, despite Michael Owen's return from the bench.
Defender David Rozehnal was denied by Scott Carson in one of the few clear-cut chances Newcastle created.
Villa defender Martin Laursen's header was blocked by Steve Harper, who also tipped away Nigel Reo-Coker's shot.
Fulham 1-2 Middlesbrough
Lee Cattermole's late strike earned Middlesbrough their first points of the season with a win at Fulham.
Fulham took a costly lead when Brian McBride dislocated his knee in scoring.
A howler from Tony Warner handed £6m striker Mido a goal on his debut, when the ball squirmed out of the Fulham keeper's grasp.
Cattermole's neat finish put Boro ahead, but Fulham were denied a point when David Healy's effort was ruled not to have crossed the line.
Birmingham 0-1 West Ham
West Ham notched their first win of the season as they beat Birmingham courtesy of a Mark Noble penalty.
Midfielder Noble was West Ham's best player and scored from the spot after Blues keeper Colin Doyle rashly upended Craig Bellamy.
The Hammers might have had a spot-kick earlier on when Stephen Kelly appeared to impede Kieron Dyer.
Noble had also hit the post with a free-kick against a Blues side lacking the quality to match their effort.
